Welcome to Early Years.
Thank you so much for attending the Winter Show. The students did such a great job standing on stage and performing.
This week is a short week; we will be finishing off our diorama project and reviewing all the letter sounds we have learned. We will be reading a Snowman Story and making our own snowman.
In math we will continue counting and writing one more and one less of a given number.
I want to wish everyone happy holidays and a prosperous new year. All the best in health and happiness in 2018.

I would like to thank everyone who attended the conferences last week. It was a pleasure to sit with you and talk about your child’s progress. I am looking forward to seeing lots of progress in Term 2.
On Monday December 11, is our first student council organised,
“No Uniform Day”. It will cost students 20 dirhams to participate; the funds raised will go towards the purchase of a new camera for the student council. Students do not have to participate; they can choose to wear their uniforms and not pay 20 dirhams.
Please be sure to mark your calendars for the evening of Thursday December 14 at 7pm for the Winter Show. The students have been working very hard to prepare their Santa songs. We will be singing, ‘Must Be Santa’ and ‘Santa Claus is Coming to Town.’ Students must arrive by 6:45pm .We hope to see you all there to enjoy this wonderful event for our school community. There will be small items for sale, as in previous years, as well as a Student Council Bake Sale.
Friday December 15 is Pyjama Day. Students may wear their pyjamas to school.
Our winter clothing and blanket drive will continue until the holiday, the deadline is December 20th so please continue sending in items if you have them.
This week in early years we will be reading Goldilocks and the Three Bears. We continue rehearsing for the Winter Show and we will be learning about the sound ck. In math we will be measuring how long and how tall things are. Our nursery rhyme this week is,Twinkl Twinkl Little Star.
Our winter holiday starts Thursday December 21 and school resumes Wednesday January 3, 2018.

Term 1 conferences are scheduled for Wednesday December 6, we do not have regular classes that day but the nursery and reception students will come to the meeting with their parents and we will discuss the report card. Your child’s report card will be given out at the conference. Please check your email and sign up for a time on Wednesday.
This week we are reading, Goldilocks and the Three Bears. We will be looking at the characters and looking at what comes next in the story. Simple sequencing activities are great for emerging readers. The students will begin to practice their comprehension and re -telling skills by sequencing the events of Goldilocks and the Three Bears.
In maths we will be counting, writing numbers and learning about measuring: comparing height and length. We will measure using non-standard units of measurement. Our Jolly Phonics sound this week is N. We will learn words that begin with the letter N and sing a new song.
