Welcome to Early Years.
We had a great start to 2018.The students worked well last week and we read the story, Elmer the Elephant. We discussed how the story made us feel,(happy, sad, excited or scared,) and then we demonstrated our feelings through paintings and music. In math we counted to 20 and wrote numbers 1-20. Children are encouraged to say the number that is one more and one less than the given number.
This week we are going to talk about patchwork and do some weaving activities.
We continue to teach the Jolly Phonics program and introduce the second group of letter sounds: e and h. Some strategies to support your child at home are, practice singing Jolly Phonics action songs, rhymes and reading stories together. Next steps include hearing the end sounds, for example, that red ends in /d/ sound. End sounds are more difficult to hear than initial sounds.
This trimester we will be continue to use Seesaw to document and communicate our learning .Y our constructive feedback is always appreciated.
Looking forward to another great week.
