Welcome to Early Years.
Our highlight last week was going to the Oasis market. We went on the school bus and we sang ,”The wheels of the bus”. It was such a fun day for the students. We bought a lot of fruit and when we got back to school we made fruit salad and shared it with our friends. It was delicious!
Next week we will be celebrating Heritage Week at ISM. We are looking forward to parents or extended family members sharing their heritage with students either by storytelling, sharing photos, sampling food or just bringing artefacts! This is a wonderful occasion for children to learn more about the countries of their classmates.
We are continuing with our unit, Who We Are, we will focus on expressing our feelings about our family and friends and we will read, the Little Red Hen. In math we are counting, making groups of objects and making patterns.
We will continuing in phonics with the sound A , distinguishing same and different sounds, counting and making comparisons. We will so review and sing all the Nursery Rhymes we have learned so far.
Also next week on Friday 20th of October, for UN Day we ask that students come to school in their home country attire. At 8:25 am we will start a parade where students will march in their home country groupings around the courtyard ,proudly carrying their flag. Students will then all join up on stage to sing for parents. Parents are also welcome to wear home country attire and join in on the fun!
Also mark your calendars for the World Fest this Saturday, 21 October from
12-4pm.This important community event is fun for the whole family. Come enjoy food and games and celebrate all of the countries our ISM community includes.
The next few weeks will be very busy as we have many activities occurring. Our monthly assembly will be on Friday October 27 and of course Halloween is on the Tuesday the 31st!
