Welcome back and happy New Year! This has been a short but productive week.
The students have been busy inquiring into the nature of materials and exploring their different properties. Just before the holiday they designed, built and tested waterproof structures. Yesterday we explored the question “Does it float?” and the students were surprised to find out that some of our predictions were incorrect!
In Math we have been focusing on place value by building and comparing numbers. We will also be working on doubling and halving numbers and using place value to solve problems.
Our field trip today was a fantastic opportunity for the students to see some beautiful Moroccan artifacts and artwork as well as some other interesting items from around the world. We observed and discussed how the museum displays these items to appeal to people and the students will be putting this information to use as they prepare for their own museum at the en of the month! Please ask your child to tell you about their favorite part of the trip!
As part of our project we will need lots of magazines that we can cut pictures from- if you have any old magazines that we could cut up for a materials collage then please send them in!
Please enjoy a few photos of your learners hard at work!
Thanks and have a great weekend:)
