Thank you so much to all of you for coming to our fabulous Winter Show on Thursday! I know you were all as proud of the students as I was for their hard work and their beautiful performances!
I wanted to take a moment to welcome our new student Eric into our class! Eric joined us just before the conferences last week, and as you could all see from his excellent performance during the winter Show, he has blended perfectly into our class!
Last week we did manage to find time for our new unit, How The World Works, and the students began inquiring into the uses and properties of everyday materials. This week we will be conducting some STEM projects and experiments to design and test different materials.
In Maths we are continuing our study of measurement – focusing on seasons and the calendar this week.
In Language and literacy the students continue to build their phonemic awareness skills and reading fluency with word building activities and reading during Daily 5. We are also learning about writing friendly letters and will have some authentic practice by writing some special greetings to bring home.
Important Dates to remember:
Wednesday is the last day of school before our vacation and we will have a visit from Santa Claus at the end of the day.
The After School Activities Sign Up Form was sent home last week and is due back by Wednesday, 20 December. Remember all activities are first come, first served so sign-up ASAP as places are limited!
I will take this opportunity to wish you all a very restful vacation, Merry Christmas to all who celebrate and a Happy New Year!!
