It is hard to believe that the first term of this year is nearly finished!! This week is the last week of term and it is Thanksgiving which is a perfect end to our unit of inquiry into who we are and how our families help shape us. This week we have brainstormed what it means to be thankful and what we are thankful for. The students have written acrostic poems which they will be presenting during the assembly on Friday! Since thursday is a holiday I am asking for the kids to take these poems home with them and practice reading them (or following the picture clues) aloud. Please help them with this if you have a chance!
This is also the ideal time to explain to our young learners how important it is to be thankful for the privileges we are all lucky enough to have here at ISM and it is with this in mind that we are collecting winter clothes and warm blankets for people who are not as fortunate. Your kids have embraced this challenge and are enjoying watching the boxes fill up - keep those donations coming! :)
I hope to see all of you for our Thanksgiving Lunch tomorrow, 22 November at 12:15 and then again on Friday, November 24 at 8:30 for our Monthly Assembly.
