Welcome back to school after a very exciting weekend. It was wonderful to see almost all of you here for World Fest! The day was a great success filled with lots of delicious food and plenty of fun for the kids as well.
Heritage Week and World Fest were a perfect introduction into our new Unit of Inquiry- Who We Are. In this unit we will be discussing how learning about previous generations can help us better understand ourselves.
Your children will probably be asking you lots of questions about your family so please be prepared to spend some time discussing your family history over the next six weeks! :)
In Maths this week we are continuing to build Number sense and working on mastering addition facts (and subtraction facts in Year 2) and relating them to number sentences. A fun and easy game you can play at home is "1 more" - you simply call out a number and challenge your child to respond with the number that is 1 more. See how quickly your learner can respond!
In our literacy block we continue to use the Daily 5 framework as we read, write, and build language skills. Your students are also learning to sing and Sign the ABC's and we will (hopefully!) be presenting this to the school community during our assembly on Friday.
It would be wonderful for your child to practice this at home- ask them to teach you the song!
Here is a video with detailed instructions that you can use for extra practice at home.
Thank you for your continued support!
