Happy New Year! The children were excited to see their friends again and share all of their fun holiday adventures from around the world and right here at home. If you were able to take any pictures of your child reading, please send them to me so they can be included in our montage of student readers!
This week there are a few dates to be aware of. Wednesday 10 January is an early dismissal day. School ends at 12:15 that day. Thursday 11 January is Moroccan Declaration Day and there is no school. There is school on Friday 12 January.
This week in maths we are beginning an introduction to multiplication and division. We will focus on the 2s and 3s times tables and doubling and halving numbers. In Daily 5 we are organising our ideas when writing and learning the parts of a sentence in order to write proper sentences.
In our unit of inquiry, the students will be choosing a holiday or celebration that they will be learning about for their final project. They will be learning how to research their chosen holiday or celebration and deciding how they would like to present their findings. They will be responsible for teaching the rest of the class about their holiday. We will be sharing this learning with you on Friday, 26 January after the morning assembly and parent meeting. More information will be sent home shortly about this event.
Have a wonderful week!
