Please note that this Wednesday, 7 February is an early dismissal day. Students should be picked up at 12:15.
We had a wonderful World Read Aloud Day last Thursday. The students loved cuddling up in their pyjamas and listening to stories in different languages read by parents, teachers and students. Check out our Photos page to see some pictures from the day and be sure to like the ISM Facebook page to see a video from the day.
This week and next we will be doing MAP testing. Our tests will be on Wednesday, Friday and next Monday at 8:30. Please be sure that your child arrives on time and that they have had a good breakfast on those days.
We had a great time beginning our inquiry into How the World Works with a focus on light and sound. We are focusing on sound for the first weeks of our inquiry. We are learning about the scientific method and conducting experiments to learn about how sound travels and how we use sound.
In maths this week we are looking at longer forms of multiplication and division, multiplying and dividing 2-digit numbers by 1-digit numbers. We continue to take times tests each day. Please help your child practice their times tables at home each night to improve speed and accuracy. In writing we will continue learning about procedural writing. In reading we will be looking at different story elements and doing a character analysis.
I hope you have a wonderful week!
