This Wednesday is our first ISM’s Got Talent show at 2:00 followed by our Valentine’s Day Dance. Students can wear their nice party clothes or red, pink or white (or their regular school uniforms) for this special day. Parents are welcome to join us. Mr Moniz sent out a volunteer sign up if you would like to help decorate or donate treats for this event. We are also holding a food drive and winter shoe drive this week. You can see Mr Moniz’s emails for more details.
Next week is our Mid-winter break. There is no school from 17-25 February. School resumes on Monday, 26 February.
We took our third and last MAP test this morning and it was amazing to see the student growth that has occurred since our first testing session.
Students are continuing to explore sound in our unit of inquiry. They are asking questions that interest them and finding out the answers for themselves. Some of the questions that they are asking are, “How do you use sign language?”, “How do you sign the ABCs?”, “Who invented Braille writing?”, “How did Dr Bell invent the telephone?” and many more.
In maths we are still looking at longer forms of multiplication and division, multiplying and dividing 2-digit numbers by 1-digit numbers. We continue to take times tests each day. Please help your child practice their times tables at home each night to improve speed and accuracy. In writing we will continue learning about procedural writing.
I hope you have a wonderful week!
