We had a great start to our week. I am happy to announce that we raised a total of 1160 dirhams at our Market Day! We used a small part of our proceeds to have a special pizza party today and we will be having ice cream later in the week as rewards for all of the students’ hard work. The rest of the money that we raised will be donated to the same rural school that the Family Fun Day proceeds are going to build washrooms at the school.
We have begun our final unit, Sharing the Planet. The central idea of this unit is “Climate change impacts the habitats of living things.” The key concepts that we will focus on are change and reflection. Our lines of inquiry are how rocks/fossils teach us about the history of the earth, the features of ecosystems and the effect of natural and human influences on ecosystems. The first half of the unit we will be focused on Earth Science looking at rocks, minerals, fossils and the formation of the Earth. The second half of the unit we will explore climate change and ecosystems. We made delicious edible rocks today; be sure to ask your child about the different kinds!
This week we are continuing to practice addition, subtraction and multiplication facts. We are also looking at geometry with a focus on turning, angles and coordinates. We are writing friendly letters and reviewing parts of speech and parts of sentences.
I hope you have a wonderful week!
