The students had a great time writing about their long weekends and all of the fun things that they did. This week is a busy one with after-school activities beginning today and Open House on Thursday. Open House is at 7:00 pm; there is a new parent meeting preceding Open House at 6:00 pm. Tomorrow I will send out a presentation introducing myself and telling you a bit about our year and the programmes that we will be following. The presentation will also be posted here on Weebly. Please view this presentation before Open House and I will be happy to answer any questions you may have on Thursday. There is an RSVP form in your child's folder. Please be sure to send it back tomorrow for organisational purposes.
Our first morning assembly will take place this Friday morning at 8:30. Please join us as we will be singing a song about landforms that our class wrote. Our class will also be introducing the other performances.
This week we continue working on place value in maths, finding numbers on a number line, identifying the value of each number and comparing and ordering numbers in the hundreds and thousands. During Daily 5 Literacy we will focus on working on writing and we will introduce listening to reading.
During our unit of inquiry, the students are painting their landform islands that they created last week. They will be labeling their landforms. We will also be working on mapping skills and deciding where their islands would be located on Earth. We will begin looking at different kinds of settlements and where they are located and why.
I have uploaded some photos from our first weeks onto our photos page. The password to access the page is: ISMlearners2017
