It was wonderful seeing most of you at our Open House last Thursday. Thank you very much for coming and feel free to see me about any additional questions you may have. We had a great Monday. As it gets chillier in the morning and the children are wearing sweaters and jackets, please remember to mark all clothing with your child’s name so items are not lost. We painted drums today and we will be using them during our Achoura celebration tomorrow. MAP testing is coming up next week.
This week we will be working on mental addition and subtraction facts to 20 in maths as well as making pairs to 10 and pairs to 100. We continue to work on 1, 10 and 100 more and less than a number. During Daily 5 Literacy we will be using new words and discussing the expectations for word work.
During our unit of inquiry, the students are learning about different kinds of settlements and what kinds of services and habitations are found in each one. We are comparing cities, towns and villages. We are focusing on the key concept of causation and why settlements are like they are.
Have a wonderful week!
