Another series of MAP testing is in the books. I am very proud of our class, demonstrating great overall progress since the last tests. Parents will get their child’s individual reports in a few weeks. At that time, if you would like to meet about the results, please let me know.
Tuesday is the recording of the COBIS Travel Show video. Our class will be setting out from the school at 9:00 and will be visiting about 10 different famous landmarks. At each one we will be sharing interesting facts and trivia that we hope to entice others by … and creating a winning entry in the competition. We will be back at school by 3:00. Thanks to Helena’s mom for offering to come with us. Having one more parent with us would be lovely. Let me know if you can spend the day with us.
We will have consultants from the International Baccalaureate coming to visit our school this week. The PYP (Primary Years Programme) consultant will be in our class on Wednesday afternoon. To accommodate her, our class will NOT have PE on Wednesday afternoon, but WILL have it on Thursday morning.
Remember that Wednesday, Valentine’s Day, is a very special day. We are excited for ‘ISMs Got Talent’, which is from 2-2:45, and then the Valentine’s dance from 2:45-3:30. All parents are encouraged to come out and see the amazing talent we have at ISM!
As a caring community, ISM is collecting items for people in rural areas who are in need. Donations of dry goods (rice, lentils, beans, flour, oil, etc.), socks, shoes, blankets and coats will be accepted all this week. Our year 5/6 unit of inquiry is focused on the UN Global Goals #2, Zero Hunger. Hunger is the leading cause of death in the world. We can do our part to make sure that people don’t suffer. Please give what you can to our food drive this week. Let’s take action and be good role models for our children.
The holiday begins at 3:30 on Friday, February 16th! I hope you all have a safe and happy vacation. Make lasting memories with family and friends. See you on Feb. 26th!
