Year 7 - 8 Blog
This is where you will find out what we have been doing in the Year 7 -8 class.
Humanities, years 7 and 8:
Central Focus: World Geography
Lines of Inquiry: Continents, oceans, mountains, rivers and absolute location
Overall: Students in this class are focusing this week on learning the big picture elements of the globe before we shift focus next week to medieval Great Britain. We will be testing their skills this Friday, students should be researching and practicing at home for a day or two this week.
English, years 7 and 8:
Central Focus: Writing Style
Lines of Inquiry: Grammar, punctuation, word-choice and the writing process
Overall: Students get to focus this week on their writing style as they compose stories about adventure. They chose to write about an adventure they had or an adventure they want to have. We will draft and re-draft these stories this week. Next week they can bring them home to share with their families.
Drama, years 7 and 8:
Central Focus: Creativity and Focus
Lines of Inquiry: Group building, monologues, creative expression and focus
Overall: Students get to build focus through group creativity games and then select a monologue to work on in performance. These monologues will be the core material for learning how to create a character and perform for audiences.
Speech and Debate, years 7 - 10
Central Focus: Resolutions and Research
Lines of Inquiry: Debate topic selection, debate research and debate format
Overall: Students will review the debate league topics and select one topic to start researching. Students will also study an overview of the debate format for our league.
